Join Jessica in this experiential workshop where the act of eating together is used to generate a group discussion on identity and language.
This workshop is designed for young leaders and facilitators looking to explore new interesting ways to listen to their community. It will be a hands-on practical workshop that invites you to connect, learn from and brainstorm together with other like-minded youth.
In this workshop, you will:
Learn a system for designing a tailored community consultation.
Build connection with like minded community workers over some food and drinks.
Hear Jessica’s process behind designing the Quiet Queers consultations.
Try the Collaborative Dictionary tool made during Jessica’s SIGNAL residency.

About the speaker
Jessica Tanto is an artist and facilitator using art as a tool to gather diverse stories and perspectives of the general shared human experiences. Their work ranges from workshops, programs, public interventions to gallery installations across Australia and Indonesia. Some organisations they’ve closely worked with include Connection Arts Space, Testing Grounds, Blackbird Foundation, Prince Claus Fund, Rumah Tangga (Jakarta), GUDSKUL, and ruangrupa. Jessica is passionate about encouraging people to creatively tailor ones way of listening to the community and issue at hand.
This workshop blends Jessica’s 8 years of experience building communities and social research background to offer a unique perspective on community data collection.
