I share reflections about my practice via email
At what age did you get it?
the day i was born
How did you get the object?
my great aunt made it for me and I was wrapped in it as a newborn
Does this object have a historical significance in your life?
as a toddler/child I took it with me everywhere, even to school, and I’ve never been able to sleep a night without it. it was originally satin but from years of wear it became a very specific texture that i haven’t been able to find anywhere else (hence why I can’t throw it out even though it has become ripped up rags). it is also one of the few things I was able to bring from my birth country when I immigrated
How old are you now?
20
What does the object smell like? (feel free to use several words or make up words to describe it)
nothing, like cotton cloth
What does the object feel like? (feel free to use several words or make up words to describe it)
the white parts feel like a thick cotton shirt, slightly rough but not stiff at all. the pink areas are silky and smooth and extremely soft to the touch. it has almost no texture. I either feel it with my hands or rub it against my face to self soothe
Why do you need or use it?
I can’t sleep without it, it also helps self-soothe and calm me
What would you feel if you lost the object?
extremely distraught, I haven’t been able to let it go even though I’ve been told multiple times I should throw it out
