I share reflections about my practice via email
At what age did you get it?
17 (this particular one, but I had others very similar to it that I lost from the age of 3)
How did you get the object?
Bedding from home
Does this object have a historical significance in your life?
It’s a source of comfort and safety as it reminds me of being able to sleep alone and being safe in my own vicinity. The bolster itself was something I used when at home but since I moved away the cover was the only thing I held onto, and it has helped me with sleeping. Holding onto the soft fabric lulls me into sleep and the act of repeatedly straightening the strings can be quite meditative
How old are you now?
21
What does the object smell like? (feel free to use several words or make up words to describe it)
Fresh fabric, since I just pop it in the wash every week or so
What does the object feel like? (feel free to use several words or make up words to describe it)
Soft!
Why do you need or use it?
Calms me down and grounds me when I feel. Bit anxious or unsafe
What would you feel if you lost the object?
I had lost a similar bolster cover before and felt distraught but since it is more the utility that is significant to me rather than the particular object, receiving another bolster cover in a similar material was OK
